We are Team T.E.A.M., the fourth grade Destination Imagination team from District 70’s Copeland Manor School.  We are reaching out to you in hopes that you would like to sponsor our team so we can compete at D.I. Globals 2014 Finals Competition.

On April 12, 2014, our team qualified to represent the state of Illinois at the 2014 Global Destination Imagination Problem Solving Competition, May 20-25 in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Team T.E.A.M qualified by placing 1st at the Regional Affiliate Finals in March which moved the team onto State Finals in Bloomington, IL where we placed 3rd in the Tension Builds competition and received 1st place in the team Instant Challenge.

What is Destination Imagination (DI)?
DI is a program designed to challenge young people to do long-term, creative problem-solving through teamwork. Teams from kindergarten through college work together to create solutions to selected problems, without “outside” assistance from adults.

What did our Team do?
This year we competed in a Challenge called “The Tension Builds”, in which the team was required to construct a lightweight structure using very specific parameters that were given by DI, to hold several hundred pounds.  At the Regional Tournament, our structure held 325 pounds!  We made slight modifications and at the State Tournament, our structure, weighing 75 grams, held an astonishing 760 lbs!  In addition to the structure, Team T.E.A.M was also required to create and perform a skit about the structure and its purpose.  The more creative the better!

Now our destination is Global Finals to join 1,300 other teams from 48 states and 12 countries in Knoxville, TN. In order to attend, our teams must raise approximately $1500 each ($9000 total).  This cost will cover our registration fees, transportation and on-campus housing and meals.

Team T.E.A.M is a hard-working and innovative group and would very much appreciate any support you could offer.  Please visit www.globalfinals.org and www.illinoisdi.org for more information about the DI program and the Global Finals competition.
Our hardwork paid off!  GLOBALS here we come.
